Visual Semantics Essay Samples

Visual Semantics Essay SamplesVisual Semantics is the brainchild of Oliver Burkeman, an English professor at Goldsmiths College and former adjunct instructor. His brilliant insight is to place sentences within pictures, in order to try and get a point across that way. There are various Visual Semantics essay samples on the Internet, but I feel Owl Postcards is my favourite. The card is designed to look like an owl, as though it's about to eat an apple. But then, the owl is standing on a chair. So, when the reader looks at the owl, and then, at the chair, there's a certain power in the visual metaphor of what is seen, and what isn't seen.In addition to Owl Postcards, Visual Semantics is also represented by a number of books. The first of these books is V; the Visuals by Patricia Brennan. It is one of the few books written by an American. The other book is Scrying by Sandra Stotzka, an example of 'psychic oracle' writing. As with the V, it is written from a woman's perspective, even thou gh Stotzka's revelations are commonly shared. Scrying is about family and loss, while V is about money and love. The most recent Visual Semantics-related book is the I; Universe by Jennifer Copeland, and it's called, simply, I; The I's. In it, Copeland tells the story of a vision quest, and shows the different methods and tools used to experience visions. The entire book can be downloaded for free here. There are several other Visual Semantics essay samples on the Internet, but I feel the best one comes from Owl Postcards. V Postcards are posters which feature the owl and contain the quote, and a link to the Visual Semantics website. The owl itself can be downloaded from I Postcards.A quick search for Visual Semantics will reveal dozens of other websites dedicated to this technique, and the techniques used to learn and master this technique. For more resources and samples, please see my website.I would like to thank VisualSemantics.org for permission to include their images. These ima ges were selected for the most beauty, detail, and substance. All of these sites are about creativity, and the ability to create art in any format, from all of the major media.
